Coach Burton enters her 13th season as the head Women's Golf coach in the 2018-19 after guiding the program to the 2018 national title last spring. She oversaw the transition of women's golf from club to varsity status after being instrumental in the addition of the program in 2007. The team won the inaugural SCIAC title in 2012 and finished 14th at the NCAA Championships. The following year they repeated as SCIAC champions in 2013 and finished 11th at the NCAA Championships. The team won their third straight SCIAC crown in 2014. In 2017, Coach Burton helped the Athenas win their fourth SCIAC Championship and finish in eighth place at the NCAA Championship, before bringing home the trophy in 2018.
Burton is the senior women's administrator for the department and during her career at CMS has helped increase the number of women's sports from six to 11. She served 31 years as women's basketball coach and has also served as volleyball and interim women's tennis coach. Burton lives in Claremont and has three sons: John, Todd, and Michael.
