CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team triumphs over Cal Lutheran 2-1 on Saturday at Pritzlaff Field.  The Athenas took the lead in the first half and went on to beat the #1 ranked team in SCIAC.

The first goal scored by the Athenas happened after a CMS corner kick that was cleared by a Regal out to the ready and waiting junior D Samantha Kunz. Kunz lofted the ball back into the fray and junior D Gabriela Ozer drove it past the keeper to put the Athenas on the board.

CMS led 1-0 at half time despite the eight shots by Cal Lutheran.

The Athenas struck again in the 51st minute during the second half.  This time senior F Kerry Moller scored and was assisted by freshman D Hannah Rosenberg.

A foul was called on CMS in the goalie box and the Regals were awarded a penalty kick.  Senior F Kristina Hulse took the free kick and scored.

With a final score of 2-1, CMS not only recorded their first conference win but defeated the #1 ranked team in SCIAC.

The Athenas travel to Redlands to play the Bulldogs on Wednesday (10/2) at 7 pm.
