DUSHANBE, Tajikistan – After avoiding relegation with a second place finish in Pool C, Nicole Tan (CMC '20) and the Singapore National Team looked to finish their Fed Cup run on a high note. However, the team fell 3-0 against Pacific Oceania in the 5th to 8th Playoff on Friday morning and concluded their Fed Cup run in 7th place.
Tan played singles against Abigail Tere-Apisah, a decorated alumna from Georgia State University and former No. 8 singles player in the nation. Despite the tremendous challenge the two-time All-American presented Tan, the Athena held her around and took the first set 7-6 (7-5). However, Tere-Apisah made several adjustments came back with a pair of 6-0 sets to win 2-1.
It has been a long season for Tan, having reached the semifinals with the Athenas at the NCAA Tournament and taking on the top players from Asia and Oceania after the academic year. The staff and coaches at CMS Athletics are proud of her accomplishments in her young Athena career.
